MASCUDA RAISES CFA3.5MILLION FOR WATERPROJECT

Sons and daughters of Manji Bafut grouped under the umbrella of Manjinikong Social, Cultural and Development Association abbreviated MASCUDA recently in Yaoundé defied torrential and ceaseless rains to jam full the Yaoundé Messe des Officiers hall: Objective, to raise funds for the realization of the “Giant Water Supply Project in Manji Bafut so as to improve on the existing water supply system.”

This occasion which had a chequered start due to very bad weather, miraculously yielded an unexpected sum of 3.5million thanks to mesmerizing agile and the no nonsense MASCUDA Project Coordinator, Chebienka Leslie Langsi who roused the audience to their feet as Emcee this day. In fact his irresistible style of humour was bound to yield dividends. His singular humoristic style woke the audience including onlooker from the grip of the evening cold to deep their hands deeper and deeper and even pledge for the amount to be realized.

In a chat with The Frontier Telegraph thereafter, Ngwasoh Abel Langsi, MASCUDA National President now Lord Mayor of Bafut Rural Council who traveled all the way from Bamenda for this very important occasion expressed his gratitude to all who stood steadfast and sacrificed for the Manji water supply project. He stressed that water is life and requested all men and women of goodwill not to relent any effort to ensure that sufficient quality water is enjoyed in all quarters of Manji – Bafut. Ngwasoh underscored that even though the curtains were being drawn on the Yaounde ceremony, the doors of MASCUDA remain open for more contributions to come in. he went further to disclosed that MASCUDA had also addressed appeal letters to government ministers, diplomatic missions, Plan International etc from whom the association was still expecting some financial or material support.

Ngwasoh Abel concluded that the Manji water supply scheme when completed will cost over 35millionFCFA and that MASCUDA envisages further fund raisings in Douala, Bamenda and in other big towns of Cameroon.

This occasion was graced by a cross-section of traditional dances that Bafut can boast of.
