SCNC-USA Demonstration Records A Resounding Success In Front Of The United Naions Plaza
By Charles Tamon in New York*
As early as 5:00am, Southern Cameroonians from all over the United States started gathering in front the United Nations Plaza in New York to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the independence of Southern Cameroons. Celebrations started with chanting and dancing, while waiting for the arrival of the large population of Southern Cameroonians from Washington DC, headed by the Chairman of the SCNC USA, Mr. Eric Tita Moh-Takwi.
The Chairman for SCNC-USA arrived at the “Ceremonial Ground” at 11.00am accompanied by members of his executive and a large crowd of devoted Southern Cameroonians who traveled from all over the United States to New York for the event.
There was the singing of the Southern Cameroons National Anthem which was immediately followed by a welcome address by the SCNC-USA chairperson, Eric Tita Moh-Takwi.
During his address, Moh-Takwi reminded the world of the fact that 46 years ago, the United Nations joined the British and the French in committing the error that has resulted in the annexation of Southern Cameroon by France through la République du Cameroun. He then insisted that the United Nations sit up and right this wrong that has led to the plundering of the resources and lives of Southern Cameroonians by agents of the occupational forces of la République du Cameroun.
Moh-Takwi went further to call on all Southern Cameroonians around the world to celebrate the independence of Southern Cameroons in hope because good always triumphs over evil. He further called for unity among all Southern Cameroonians, reminding everyone that the fight must be won and only when united that strength is useful.

He told the world that the silence of the United Nations is a cause of instability and it would be good for the UN to act now than wait for chaos before stepping in with humanitarian aid. He blamed the United Nations, Britain and the United States for not stepping up to their responsibilities by defending the vote they cast in April 1961, for the independence of Southern Cameroons.
The reading of the Anniversary Message from the SCNC National Chairman, Chief Ette Otun Ayamba.
The anniversary speech was compelling and well-received by the crowd with undivided attention and spontaneous cheers. Despite the construction noise that was taking place at the Main Plaza, the event was graced by the sounds and dancing to the rhythm of great songs from the Southern Cameroons. As the celebrations were going on, there were some media men and women conducting interviews and getting pictures for different television stations.
Flattered by the large turnout for the event, the current chairman, Mr. Eric Tita Moh-Takwi, and his executive have delegated this reporter to say “THANK YOU” to all and sundry, and to announce that the General Assembly meeting of November 17th 2007 in the United States will include a THANK YOU PARTY, specially provided by the Chairman because of the outstanding turnout in New York on the 1st of October 2007.
