AFTER THE ELECTION CYCLE, REFLECTIONS ON THE NORTH WEST CPDM CONCLAVE

The Cameroon People Democratic Movement (CPDM) held a closed door meeting not too long ago in Bamenda to assess the results of the July 22, 2007 twin elections and chart out a new political direction for the North-West Province (NWP). The meeting was held at the Farmers’ House complex and brought together some CPDM leaders and four of the nine newly elected CPDM Members of Parliament (MP).


Human Rights Commission Disappointed with Crushing CPDM Majority in Just Ended Elections

The National Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms (NCHRF) in Cameroon Chairperson, Dr. Divine Chemuta Banda, has told pressmen in Yaounde that the commission is greatly disappointed with the crushing majority wielded by the ruling Cameroon People Democratic Movement (CPDM) in the local councils and parliament following the elections of July 22 and the re-runs of September 30.

Leading Up To October 1

A Press Release from the Southern Cameroons National Council (SCNC) office signed by its Chairman, Chief Ette Otun Ayamba, on September 10, 2007 had outlined the detailed programmed of activities from September 24 to 2nd October. Immediately the Release went out, Cameroon’s security forces went into action.


Commemorating 46 Years Since October 1, 1961

Activities marking the 46th anniversary celebration of the botched independence of the Southern Cameroons in 1961 kicked off on September 24 as called for by the National Chairman of the Southern Cameroons National Council (SCNC), Chief Ette Otun Ayamba.


12 Southern Cameroonians Arrested in Abuja for Demonstrating at American Embassy

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that on October 4th, 12 individuals claiming their lives were in danger were apprehended while demonstrating and seeking political asylum at the American embassy in Abuja. The demonstrators carried placards with various inscriptions including: “Save Our Lives U.S. Government,” “The Southern Cameroonians Need Freedom,” “It’s Not a Crime to Seek Asylum.”

As early as 6am on October 1, the populations of the Azire neighborhood in Bamenda, Kumbo, Ndu, Wum, Muyuka, Mbot and other towns in the Southern Cameroons woke up to the singing of the Southern Cameroons national anthem.


October 1 Commemorations In France

The 46th anniversary celebrations of the independence of Southern Cameroons will go down deep into the annals of history with the breaking of new grounds in the Diaspora in general and in France in particular. Southern Cameroonians in France have resolved to speak one language when it comes to the liberation struggles. All attempts by Paul Biya's agents to prevent these celebrations have resulted in futility.


IN BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, THE ECHOES OF OCTOBER 1 WAS HEARD AT THE BRITISH EMBASSY

On October 1, 2007 at 4pm, Southern Cameroonians and some friends of the Southern Cameroons gathered in front of the British Embassy in Brussels to call on the British government to revisit their role in aborting the sovereign independence of the former British Southern Cameroons, a former League of Nations Mandate and United Nations Trust Territory under United Kingdom Administration.


SOUTHERN CAMEROONIANS ALSO CAME OUT IN LONDON

Many Southern Cameroonians also commemorated their aborted independence day by demonstrating in front of No. 10 Downing Street in London. The United Nations have been accused by Southern Cameroonian activists for being the primary instigator in aborting the Southern Cameroons ascension to sovereign independence.


SCNC-USA Demonstration Records A Resounding Success In Front Of The United Naions Plaza

As early as 5:00am, Southern Cameroonians from all over the United States started gathering in front the United Nations Plaza in New York to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the independence of Southern Cameroons. Celebrations started with chanting and dancing, while waiting for the arrival of the large population of Southern Cameroonians from Washington DC, headed by the Chairman of the SCNC USA, Mr. Eric Tita Moh-Takwi.
