October 1 Commemorations In France
The 46th anniversary celebrations of the independence of Southern Cameroons will go down deep into the annals of history with the breaking of new grounds in the Diaspora in general and in France in particular. Southern Cameroonians in France have resolved to speak one language when it comes to the liberation struggles. All attempts by Paul Biya's agents to prevent these celebrations have resulted in futility.
Several nocturnal meetings by la République Embassy in Paris that ran through Saturday the 29th geared towards foiling the historical grandiose celebrations failed, and to their dismay was a resounding success. Even their spy machinery was rendered handicapped as the spy agents were caught by the French Police in their hide-outs trying to take pictures of SCNC participants. All their cameras and tapes were confiscated.
Monday the 1st of October 2007 witnessed some major Boulevards in the French capital of Paris swamped with hundreds of Southern Cameroonians matching up chanting liberation songs to the “la République du Cameroun's” embassy in Paris. When the Southern Cameroon's "tricolor flag" coupled with placards flew high up in Paris, the story was told and the handwriting clearly written on the wall per se.

The torrential downpour during the manifestations was not without a symbolic connotation. This, it seems, was some sort of purgation and appeasement to the heroes and martyrs of the liberation struggles. This was the day that no Southern Cameroonian wanted to be left out as ready to pay the supreme price for their beloved country under siege by foreign occupation -- an abuse to the right to territorial integrity.
Before the day wrapped up, a strongly worded liberation speech by Chairman Vasco Akong was delivered by his second in command, comrade O.E. Ewubeakem which was accompanied by thunderous applause. The vice-chair was then escorted by the French Police and the representatives of the Interior Ministry to hand a Memorandum to Cameroun’s Consul General in Paris.
The celebration that brought together many Southern Cameroonians equally saw the participation of kids who are gradually being introduced to fight for their rights in the not too distant future. A reception was announced at the Paris 18th District neighborhood.
