Presbyterian Secondary School Buea Now Has a Second Cycle

October 3rd, 2007 TFT Staff Posted in Fako No Comments »

The Presbyterian Secondary School, Buea, now has a second cycle. The High School section was officially inaugurated on Sunday 7 0ctober, 2007, by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC), and Proprietor of the Presbyterian Education Authority run schools, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Nyansako-ni-Nku.

The Moderator, along side a college of the Clergy, prominent among whom were the Synod Clerk of the PCC, the Rev. Dr. Festus Asana and the Presbyterian Secretary for Fako North, joined other officials from the Synod office, guests, and PCSS ex-students, to grace the occasion.

Drawing inspiration from Ecclesiastics 12:1, the Moderator exhorted the students to remember their creator when young, rather than being carried away by other priorities, for all of one’s time is a waste without God.   He further told the students to build a strong relationship with God for knowledge not based on the fear of God only leads to confusion and disaster.

Turning to the parents, the man of God said that bringing up children without God only brings about “clever devils”. And because society is in shortage of men and women of good character, when the young behave badly, it is a reflection of society. He called on the youths to embrace change, since the only constant in life is change.

The Principal of PCSS, first and second cycles, Rev. Dr. Samuel Ntoko, in his welcome speech, expressed appreciation of the growth and performance of the institution since its creation in 1993.  PCSS now has a student population of one thousand and fifty has consistently boasts excellent results in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) examinations.

The Education Secretary, Mr. Joseph Baboni Che, traced the evolution of the institution, acknowledging the services of the first principal, Mr. Joseph Ebunu, his successor, Mr. Lawrence Tangu, and the Rev. Dr. Ntoko, who is the current principal. The Presbyterian Education Secretary promised the proprietor of Presbyterian Schools that PCSS will take the Presbyterian Church abroad.

The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chairman welcomed the addition of the High School and announced that the PTA and school administration have a wonderful partnership.
